Finding work while living on the road

For the past two years I took a break from working, because I started traveling with my husband. I managed to gain a lot of weight while sitting around doing nothing. I decided to finally get back on my feet and find a job. It was tough trying to find a job that fit around my families needs. I finally got a job after two months of looking right here at the hotel we stay at. They were looking for a housekeeper. I was a little nervous starting such a vigorous job after being on my butt for way too long. After only two weeks on the job I was bumped up to Leader over the housekeepers. To my surprise, I have fallen in love with the workout I get cleaning all the rooms and such. I have made some great friends with other employees. I am a happier person , now that I have something to keep me busy. I am extremely happy that I have lost a lot of weight and have shaped up my body. I am definitely on my way to being fit and fabulous on my fortieth birthday coming up in February. I have discovered that housekeepers at hotels or anywhere for that matter get paid very little and do so much work. Anyone who travels and stays at hotels should always leave a tip for the maids, they so deserve it! I will sadly have to leave this job when my husband gets transferred to his next job. I know I will never forget the friends I have made and the physical peace of mind this job has given me.

"Life on the road" Route 60 Scenic Route through West Virginia

My family and I took a road trip from Wisconsin to Virginia earlier this Summer. We love to take scenic routes whenever we can. I think Scenic Trail Route 60 is worth the extra couple of hours drive along winding roads and spectacular views of the Appalachian Mountains through the Heart of West Virginia " Beautiful God Country". We were embraced with Mountainous views and Winding roads ,with rock walls. We Stopped at an Overlook and rode a Snow lift over a spectacular lake. We also never expected to see such a breath-taking waterfall, nestled right off route 60. We really love to travel, and route 60 was an unexpected surprise. If you ever get a chance to drive through West Virginia I extremely Recommend this Route. We are going to drive through this way in the fall, Which I know the changing of the leaves will be Breath-taking. This is also a great biker route! Here are some picture that we took along route 60, Enjoy!

Life on the road " Pit Bulls"

We are the proud owners of an American Pit Bull and her name is "Monet" . She is a loving, sweet and loyal pet. She loves attention from people and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. I dislike it when people have construed ideas of what pit bulls are like. I know that many are scared of this breed of animal, but pit bulls that are raised as  domesticated animals are very much like any other dog. Unfortunately, Pit bulls have gotten a bad rap over the years, from people who have raise them to fight in dog fights. We have had the hardest time trying to find a permanent place to stay because of this bad rap that pit bulls have. Luckily, hotels don't have breed restrictions and allow any animal to stay in their establishments. While staying in a hotel has been fun, we would desperately like to find an apartment or house while my husband is at this job.
We are suppose to be staying here in Michigan for over a year or longer. We have been here at the hotel for a little over two months. It's getting old not having a full size kitchen and a separate bedroom for my son. I wish people would get to know my dog ,before making an assumption based on breed. I know I can't be the only one with this kind of problem. I wish there was no such thing as dog fighting or animal cruelty in the world. We love our dog like she is our daughter and life wouldn't be the same without her. My husband says if he can't take his dog on the road with him to where he has to travel to to work, he would quit his job. Just like people, all dogs should be treated equally!

Dead Beat Dad

My son just turned 12 this past Monday and it's a real shame that his biological father has never sent him a birthday card, Christmas gift, or Child Support. Not even a simple Phone call. Austin's biological father hasn't seen him since he was 9 mths old. I wish I could fixed this for my son, because I know he thinks about why his real father doesn't want nothing to do with him. Why can't dead beat dad's see want effect there non-existence has on a child. Just a simple gift or phone call would make my child feel special and like his biological father knows he exist. What's even worse is that the only contact we had from his real father is to request that he gives his rights up as his father. Child Support Enforcement is in the State of Florida and he is currently on probation with the State of Florida, but the State of Florida cannot collect a simple Court Ordered Support amount of a whopping 29.00 a week. His biological father has been on probation for over two years now. Something is definitely wrong with this picture. We as a society, should change the way the Child Support Enforcement is governed. Our children deserve better than this! Please tell me if you have similar problems or concerns. Maybe, together we can be heard!

Life on the road " The Blah's"

Sometimes a person who lives in a hotel day in and day out can get the case of the blah's. Today that person is me. It's just been one of those days where I feel lonely and miss my family and friends. There's only so much you can do when u live in a hotel. I don't have my car up here right now, but it won't be long. Austin and I will be heading home to Pensacola, Fl. in August. It will be Austin's first flight ever. He is a little scared of heights, but he'll just have to suck it up! We will be flying home to stay for two weeks and then, driving my car back up to Michigan. We will be stopping to stay the night in Alabaster,Al. to see my two older boys. The next day we will be driving for twelve hours to Michigan. I am so excited and can't wait to go home to p'cola. August can't get here fast enough!

Life on the road "Cont. to should I tell the truth story"

Well, this is a continuance to the blog I wrote previously titled " Should I tell the truth or not" My friend that I told the truth about her boyfriend cheating on her, She is faced with another delima now. The girl in which her boyfriend was having the affair with, has annoucned that she is pregnant. Wow! I had a feeling this would happen. I tried to tell him to be careful about sleeping with this girl. I told him that she was the type that was looking for a way out of her messed up relationship with her own husband. So his cheating doesn't only affect his own relationship with his girlfriend " my friend", it also affect another family. I hope my husband's co-worker has learned his lesson on the affects cheating will bring to a relationship or family. One can only hope that all parties can resolve this issue in a civil manner for the two children already involved and the one that may soon be involved in 9mths or so.

Disaster in the Gulf "Kevin Costner's Invention"

I don't understand why BP wasn't more prepared for a disaster, knowing a major oil spill could have happened ant any time during drilling. If Kevin Costner could invent this type of machine more than a year ago, why couldn't BP or any of the major oil companies do the same. Why wasn't something like this being used right after the spill first started. We all know we can't stop drilling for oil until other means of energy replacement is in full effect. In the meantime the oil companies need to have safety and disaster guidelines enforced to the fullest extent, so this kind of major disaster never happens again.

THE DISASTER IN THE GULF " MY HOME TOWN"

I can't believe this is really happening to my home town "Pensacola, Fl". This makes me super furious! I just  pray that Bp or the Government can get this under control soon. Even if they finally get the oil to ever stop spewing into the Gulf of Mexico, The damage is far too great to ever imagine how long it will take to get our precious Gulf back to it's original state. The whole entire strech of Gulf from New Orleans, La to Panama City Bch, Fl has been suffering for years since Hurricanes Ivan and Katrina Hit our region. It's bad enough that our Communities have to survive natural disasters. Now we have to survive a major man-made disaster. I can only pray that we won't get hit by a hurricane this season, for that would push the oil further inland causing all kinds of illnesses and much more. I hope this doesn't forever destroy America's most Beautiful white beaches. PLEASE " GOD" HELP MY HOME TOWN AND ALL OF THE GULF!

Life on the road! "Learn to handle your liquor"

People that are going to drink, should no how to handle their liquor. Last night my husband had to babysit his co-worker's again. Some of these guys are just too young to handle drinking w/out wanting to fight everyone. When your in a public place and kids are around it definitely isn't the time or place to get waisted and act stupid. Three of our co-workers started to fight in the pool area as I was walking by them. I was too close for comfort, when fist starting flying! Luckily my husband was there to brake it all up before anyone was hurt. But the sad thing is my husband got hurt, by breaking his hand after hitting someone.  He finally got everyone to settle down and go to there rooms to sleep it off. Like I said before, We are like parents to some of these immature idiots that work w/my husband. I wish that everyone would settle down and learn to get along like a family, after all we are a working family! Hopefully the testosterone that's running thru these young men's blood will settle down soon. If it don't , they'll be looking for another job!

Life on the road "Should I have told the truth or not?"

Today I was faced with the question of whether I should tell someone dear to me the truth about her other half. Well, I ended up telling her the truth about her boyfriend and father of her child cheating on her while he is away from home working with our crew. This just happens to be another crazy day in our " Life on the road". The past couple of days my friends boyfriend has been fooling around on her with a woman who works here at the hotel. My friend has been calling me because she was concerned about her boyfriend not answering the phone and/or calling her like he usually did. I told her boyfriend that it was getting very difficult for me to keep the truth from her about what's been going on and that if he didn't man up and give her the respect by telling her himself, I was going to end up telling her. Well today she called me and was very confused about what was going on with him and why he's been treating her so coldly. Just liked I promised, I told her the truth! Now she says that she wanted to know and she was glad that I told her. I want to know what other people think about this. Should I have told her or should I have kept out of it? What would you have wanted if you were in her shoes? Please give me some feedback and tell me what you think. I hope I did the right thing for my friend. If anyone has any tips that my help her in this time of need , please tell them! I will definitely pass it on to her.
